2nd Generation "Trans" jerking when put into drive?

91 cam dx 4cyl auto.

Mainteince is all up except timing belt.
timing is advance 2 degrees.

For a while. the car jerk very hard sometimes and just plain hard every other time when put into drive, but not much when in reverse.

all the motor mounts are new and trans mounts new.

fluid is between the two marks as suggested. and is nice and fresh fluid.
car sometimes heisitates on acceleration in first. but never grinds or anything. and gets up to speed nice.

I have tightened my throttle cable as much as i could without raising the idle for max throttle response. also it idles fine. a little rough sometimes. but i did reset the ecu a few times in the last month. lol. ive got it tuned to where i got good acceleration.

Try throwing in some trans-x like I did. It takes a couple days for it to fully work.

Oh, also, you could try taking out your idle control valve and cleaning it up real good. I always reset my ecu after doing something that affects my idle by disconnecting the battery for a half hour. Then when you restart the car don't touch the accelerator and let it run to normal operating temp. The idle will be slightly higher for a couple days as the ecu remaps the short and long term fuel curves. It will slowly come back down as it learns the idle.

What could be happening is the idle jumps up when you go to shift and it jerks as a result.

Obviously mines is the v6 but I think the throttle body should be similar. On my car I didn't bother disconnecting any hoses that I didn't need to. There was one that went from the iacv to the egr valve and I simply pulled that and some coolant leaked out but not much. That allowed me to move the iacv enough to clean it while on the car. There are two bolts going through it. One of them, the bottom one on my car, had a wire harness clip over it that you have to pull off to get to the bolt that secures the iacv to the throttle body. What I did was use a very small philips screwdriver to pull off the round black piece of the iacv as it has three screws and I cleaned that up real good with some carb cleaner. Then you can just clean the iacv itself while still on the throttle body. You shouldn't need to mess with the throttle body itself.

Just to be clear, no you do not need to remove the throttle body. When you move the iacv off the throttle body you can spray some carb cleaner inside the entrance where the iacv goes into the throttle body with the butterfly open to help clean some of the gunk.

The three screws hold the black outer cover to the iacv. You can use vice grips to get the screws off. You need to take the two bolts off that secure the iacv to the throttle body. The lower one on my car had a wire harness clip around it that I had to slip off before getting to the lower bolt.

Before trying trans-x I couldn't have my transmission fluid level above the halfway between hot marks. Now I got it at the top mark with no problems, and no slipping. I can't even force my transmission to slip. I really suggest you give it a try. My car does slightly jerk going into reverse now but I think it's mostly my struts being bad and my rear mount that I need to replace. The shifting is absolutely incredible now.
