FM radio reception poor in 1991 camry

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help give me some ideas for my fm reception problem.

First off I have installed an aftermarket JVC headunit into my 1991 camry, took out the band expander that was behind the factory stereo but fm reception is still poor and the radio stations are on the wrong frequencies.

Question 1: Where is the internal antenna located?

Question 2: Any ideas on where another band expander may of been installed, if someone has put more than one in?

ok, I can confirm my problem is now fixed as I can pick up radio stations now and keep them while driving just a bit of static on them but that can be fixed with a bit more work.

Here is what I done, I found out that the aerial cable from the stereo goes into a small box behind the panel at the left of the rear window and then clips into the rear window.

To fix: take of the panel at the left of the rear window (this is just clipped on) then you will find a steel cover with wires going in and out of it, take the 10mm bolt off and unscrew it. Then you need to take the 2 screws by the wires out of the box (don't bother putting these back in as they seem to interfere with the reception). then you just tape the box up so that there is no bare steel showing.

After you have done this put the box back in it's hole (the steel part the 10mm bolt went into needs taped up also, you won't need it bolted anyway.) then put the steel cover back on and screw it on.

Where is the antenna on your car? I've never heard about this box before.

On most US gen2 Camrys, the antenna is in the driver's side A-pillar, so there is no reason for any radio related stuff to be that far back in the car. I haven't traced the antenna wire on my LE model yet though (rear quarter panel auto antenna).

With the rear power antennae, there is wiring that goes to the back and runs down the C pillar. According to the parts diagrams, there are some that have a rear-window antenna. There might be a metal box there. Trickytiger: do you have a sedan or a wagon?

I have the 91 Camry Prominent Sedan which has the rear-window antenna, which also has a metal box there.
