USA Spark plug wires broken

Hello everyone. I just bought this 90 Toyata Camry two days ago. its a 4 cyl automatic station wagon. 3 out 4 spark plug wire boots broken in the metal tube When I try to replace the spark plug wires for it. I removed valecover on top of the engine, then I was trying to lose those spark plug tubes by using channel lock. but i have no luck at all!!! they seem impossible to remove. please advise if there is a better way to remove them or other ways to get the spark plug wire boots out the tubes. I have tried the long nose plier and they dont work (boots are broken halfway, they are too deep).

They are a PIA to remove. I am not sure if you have access to shop equipment..

What I ended up having to do was manufacture my own tool to remove the lower boot. Maybe a tool company can build these…. Cornwell

I used a 12inch piece of 1/8” rod and tack welded a #10 sheet metal screw to the end of it and a T-handle to the opposite end. I was then able to placed the tool into the tube and screw it into of the top of the rubber boot and extract it (them) from the tube.

Good luck & let us how you do

I shopped around and found a tool similar to my homemade tool. The twisted tool

I have seen these with a length of 8 inches, which I think might reach bottom of tube. You may want to shorten the tip so that the threads engauge sooner
