DEA motor mounts do NOT fit my car

I just wanted to put out an FYI regarding the A7223 and A7248 DEA motor mounts.

The A7223 motor mount does not fit, in any way, shape, or form. The engine center mounting bolt that goes from the main engine stay to the top center of the mount is off by about three quarters of an inch and it is impossible to get it to fit. I spent 4 hours trying to make it work, thinking it would fit and I rounded off a few bolts in the process. I took off the main engine mounting bracket and tested the old mount and the new and it's obvious there is some kind of design flaw.

I also tried fitting the A7248 transmission side mount and the bolt that is inside the mount itself appears to be a 12mm bolt while the OEM is a 14 or 15 mm size. Yes, you can just get a 12mm nut to use to connect it to the bracket that goes to the engine but really? I also eyeballed the rest of the mount and it appears to be of a different size and the left side bracket(facing the front of the car) appears to be off centered. I did not try to actually put this on to see if it would fit but it appears not to.

However, I did previously use the A6248 and A6216 and they were usable without problems.

I will be buying the Anchor brand front right side(9219) mount from Oreilly and will be trying to install that tomorrow. It turns out I didn't appear to need the transmission side mount afterall, as I checked it while jacking up the tranny side and it appeared fine. My rear two mounts that I talked about were completely destroyed with the flat one broke off. My front right side that I am working on I can see if really bad so this should fix what's left of my clunking while driving. Fixing the two center rear mounts cleaned up a lot of noise and my tranmission shifts are awesome as a result too.

It sounds like the engine mount might be for the 4-cylinder car or something instead, even though it is listed for your car.

The transmission mount is odd - they probably crossed it with something they shouldn't have. All of the gen2 Camrys I have seen so far use the large bolt, though the Celica trans mount I have ('95 JDM GT4) uses the small bolt. I had to cut off the welded nut on the chassis to use it. You would think the high horsepower motor with heavy trans would use the big bolt...

I meant to update this and forgot. I bought the Anchor 9129 mount from Oreilly and the same thing occurred, it wouldn't work. It appears there is some kind of design flaw where the square piece is supposed to go into the bracket that attaches to the engine where it is off by about an inch. I actually was able to get the Anchor mount to fit but it made so much noise when I started it up and then even when I drove it that I had to put the old one back in, which is clearly OEM.

So I am definitely going OEM for this mount. I found it cheapest at www.toyotaoemparts.com for 91 bucks which is cheapest that I could find. The shipping to me in CA is only 12 and no tax so this is going to be the one for me.

The tranmission mount actually could work while you would have to get another nut for the bolt on the top of the mount which you can see is not what it's supposed to be going by what the OEM illustration shows. I just don't want to risk the mount itself not working and going through the same time loss as the other one. Like I said the rear two DEA mounts went on without any problems.

You can look up the mounts that are supposed to fit my car there.

It kind of sounds similar to what I experienced on the transmission mount for my 2vz-fe.

I ordered from online and the threaded stud on top was off by an inch to the left or right, making the bracket that fits over off-centered. I came to the same conclusion that OEM would be best. I also looked at an MTC branded one that fit correctly from my neighborhood auto store, but it looked less "beefy" than the OEM one so I returned that one also.

In my case what I determined was that they had sent me the manual transmission mount rather than the auto. Depending on what tranny you have, it appears to determine where the stud on top is located (left or right by an inch).

The OEM part number for auto is 12372-62040 and the part number for manual is 12372-62030. If you look close in the repair manual (Page EM-144 Step 37) the illustrations demonstrate that same conclusion also (left/right by an inch).

That store link is not working? I'm also in cali and bought from the norwalk toyota (toyotapartszone) and paid $10 more and tax and shipping...
