In case anyone ever needs to know where to find that spring, I took the visor to a local mom and pop electronics shop (not Radio Shack). The guys looked it over and first gave me a "plunger type mini momentary switch that is normally closed". It acted just like the switch in the mirror, meaning it was "off" when it was depressed and "on" when the switch was released. It was small enough to fit and said with a little time I could mod it to fit and work right...I could totally see that I could mod it to work and was very happy!
Then another guy came and said you're missing the spring that's why and I proceeded to tell him about the copper spring and how soft it was so I don't think I could ever find something like that....and then he shook his head and basically told me to shut up

He walks away and comes back with a tray of copper springs just as soft as the original

To cut the story short it works just like before with the spring he gave me! I gave them $5 for the switch and spring despite them not wanting to charge me and not needing the switch either...but wanted to give them a sale.
End of Story - Happy Ending
