Is the rust at the bottom of the fender? Near the bottom of the wheel arch? If so, how picky are you with looks?

The easiest would be fibreglass and then blend it down with body filler. But how good it looks depends on how much time you spend on it.

With the hood, is the paint that's faded from factory? If so, just scuff it up with 240 to make it as dull as possible (without hitting metal) and then spray away. Just use acrylic for both. I'd say use a 2k clear, but since you're asking you probably don't have much experience with 2k paint - both material handling and spraying.

Rust is at the middle bottom of fender. basically a hole. will the fiberglass be strong enough to hold by itself? or do i need a little metal fence deal like the bondo kits come with to put in there?

i plan on spending a good amount of time on it. i want it too look right but not paying the "right" price. so i mean obviously not professional, but not ghetto redneck either.

whats 2k clear? sounds professional and expensive or hard to work with the way you talk about it.

How big is the hole? For very small ones, filler alone will do fine. For larger ones, the "professional" method is to weld in a piece of sheet metal, but that mesh you're talking about does pretty well. I'd say that if you can fit the mesh there, go for it.

Incidentally, I just got a hole in my trunk floor where the mudguard attaches and am going to try the Por15 Trunk and Floor repair kit. I'll post back with results if it works.

Fibreglass will hold as long as:
1) the surface has been properly prepared
2) The resin is mixed up correctly

Just hit the area with 80grit so there's a rough surface to adhere to and degrease it well. For the resin, just make sure it's correctly and thoroughly mixed.

Remember, it does dry hard - very hard. No need for a little fence, but you will need to body fill over it to blend it in anyway. If you're worried, you could lay an extra sheet or two on top of it.

'2k clear' is two pack clearcoat. Two pack paint contains isocyanade which is toxic. You need to wear a proper mask to spray it and really shouldn't do it in the backyard as some people are quite sensitive to it. It's harder to work with compared to acrylic or (1k/single pack) but is resistant to chemicals.
