2nd Generation Trunk Lid adjustments on 90 Camry

The trunk lid on my 90 Camry does not sit level when closed. the drivers side is up about 1" higher than the passenger side and when I open the trunk it only opens about halfway, then I have to hold it up by hand or a 2x4 prop to actually do anything in the trunk. It latches and unlatches just fine though.

I've searched all over and cannot find any discussions on this.

Anyone experienced these two issues? Any ideas on how I can resolve both issues?

I did not want to simply start tearing things apart until I had some direction toward a final resolution for both.

I just ordered a pdf service manual on CD. Maybe the resolutions are found there?

Thanks for any assistance!

yeah i have this problem too but it's not as noticeable as yours... check on the hinges on the driver side you'll see that there's a little shaft/pin on the hinge mechanics that's probbly bent i haven't found a way to take it out and replaced that shalf/pin it requires some special tool according to the FSM

If it's out of adjustmen I'd guess when it is only opening halfway, something is hitting, either the truck lid on the back glass or the hinges on something inside, i'd check those out and you might be able to narrow down where exactly the alignment is off
