Trans input seal replacement

How the heck do you pull the input seal out of the 5sp manual trans? I can find no way to remove it and I can't get a screw into it either.

Thanks ahead of time for any advice you've got.

Update: I got it, took a lot of pulling and a pain-in-the-ass-to-install screw.

Whoa! You got it out of there? On the Alltrac manual trans (all the E-series manuals in general), I believe the 'correct' method is to do it from inside the case after dis-assembly...

That's how I had mine done...

Sorry, this was on the 2wd model. Haven't had to tackle it on the All-Trac yet, the PO got ~$1400 in maintenance done shortly before selling it... For $1400. Dx I ended up hammering a nail through it, though only just through the rubber, and then running a screw into the hole the nail left and I pried the whole assembly out with a bigazz prybar.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that technique - I just thought this was for the AWD trans...

I didn't look closely at my old S-series FWD trans when I had one.

Self-tapping sheet metal screws are your friend when it comes to seals like that (mostly cam and crank seals).

Oh, damn. Wish I had thought to use self-tapping screws, we recently had a sheet metal garage built and they left us their several thousand leftover bits of hardware as well as the scrap steel.

Now I'm curious what it's like with the AWD trans but it's a big enough pita that it doesn't warrant dropping the trans in my book. Maybe when the clutch goes.
