2nd Generation transmission might be slipping

i was driving at about 50km/h while cruise control was on..cruise control disengaged suddenly and the cruise control light (green) started blinking..so i put my foot on the gas and started accelerating once more, and i noticed that the engine would rev high or loud for a split second and go back to normal revving..

atf fluid level was fine..it was changed at 140k..the car now has 170k on it..fluid is red as it could get..

not quite sure what to do at this point i was saving some money to get my a/c going again..i hope i wont have to spend it on my tranny

I had the same strange thing happen to me while using the Cruise Control. However, it never happened while driving without the cruise control. I would suggest driving it for a while to see if the same problem comes about again. If its slipping with or without the CC on, its likely the trans.

2nd Generation

This seems odd. My cruise control works fine but I don't remember ever seeing a light to indicate it is on. Where is it supposed to be? Maybe I have a bulb burned out somewhere.
