Another sunroof issue
Hi guys,
I searched and read a couple of threads but what I found didn't solve my problem. I rarely use it, but on a whim I opened the sunroof the other night on the way home from work. Bam! It wouldn't close when I got home. I can get it almost closed all the way but it will not pop up in the rear so I'm afraid water intrusion will ruin the headliner.
The dealer told me the cables are broken so I need those and a new motor. The motor makes a noise and there is a crunching sound if I depress the switch long enough. Of course they want close to $1200 for the parts/labor and some of the parts are on national backorder.
All I'd like to do is to prop it into a sealed/closed position so it won't leak water. I don't care if it is functional for now and I don't want to smear a lot of silicone to secure it and render it inoperable. I found a used motor on eBay but so far have no source for the cables. I would like to fix it eventually but for now need a quick and secure/waterproof fix.
What is your advice as to the best way to proceed?
Thanks,
Musikmann
