Well, don't go spending money on your stock motor if you are going to do a motor swap - that intake would be worthless on a new (different) motor.
TRD = Toyota Racing Development. They are the 'performance' division of Toyota, but recently have mostly been doing stuff for the trucks (notice the "TRD Off-Road" decals on the side of some Tacomas and Tundras?). They don't have any parts for the gen2 Camry except maybe a radiator cap and oil cap.
A few thousand won't get you very far. I could have bought a second brand new WRX for what I have spent (parts only) on my Camrys...
Some motor options (start your internet research here!): 3s-ge, 3s-gte, 3vz-fe, 5vz-fe, 1mz-fe, 3mz-fe. You will also want to swap to a manual transmission, as the auto is robbing a lot of horsepower - lots of work to do there too. Transmission options: S51 (stock gen2 4-cylinder Camry manual), S53 (stock FWD Celica manual), E52 (stock gen2 6-cylinder Camry manual), E153 (MR2 turbo / 97-99 Camry V6 manual)
Ballpark numbers:
$2k-4k for ~200hp
$4k-7k for ~300-400hp
and up from there... double those costs at least if you are paying for labor.
Keep in mind then you would have a 20+ year old car with a weak chassis, bad brakes, skinny tires and worn suspension. Double the above numbers again to get the rest of the car to match the capabilities of whatever engine you have in there. Make sure you really want to do this before you start...
After all that, here is some inspiration:
