What engines can I swap? also Intake question

So since I suck at searching, I thought I might make a thread instead.

Anyways so I have a 91 LE with the 2.5 L 2VZ-FE V6, and I'm thinking about throwing a new engine in it I obviously want to upgrade, I've heard that the 5FSE or 1MZ-FE will work but, is there better ones? will any of the VZ-FE engines work? making it fit doesn't matter to much to me

and for an intake I was taking with a couple people and from what ive heard most intakes will fit the one I was looking for was around 800-900$ but im not sure of the name something like TRD or TDR no idea haha, help would be nice

anyways thanks for any info

For the motor swap... what's your budget? What's your goal for the car? What's your experience level? Will you be doing the work yourself? What's your reason for doing the motor swap? There are a number of good engine options.

For the intake... did you really just say $800-900 for an intake?!?! Ummm.... is it gold plated?

I dont really have a budget its a project car, ill be doing it when ever I have the most amount of money built up to get the type of engine I want so it could be a couple grand not quite sure yet, my goal is pretty much put as much power into the car as possible, I want to turn it into what we call a sleeper cell which is a car with no body kit or rims or the fancy stuff but extremely powerful, I have above average experience with my car but im no mechanic. I will partial doing it myself but most likely it will be with a friend who does this type of thing. and the reason; for fun mostly I already know the car has some power in it i just want to improve it.
To summarize I want to put as much power as I can into it

and for the intake haha um that might have included installation costs, all I remember is I said " I want top of the line performance" and he said Toyota something trd or tdr, and it wasnt a clip on or anything like that it would have to be fully mounted

thanks for the quick replies

Well, don't go spending money on your stock motor if you are going to do a motor swap - that intake would be worthless on a new (different) motor.

TRD = Toyota Racing Development. They are the 'performance' division of Toyota, but recently have mostly been doing stuff for the trucks (notice the "TRD Off-Road" decals on the side of some Tacomas and Tundras?). They don't have any parts for the gen2 Camry except maybe a radiator cap and oil cap.

A few thousand won't get you very far. I could have bought a second brand new WRX for what I have spent (parts only) on my Camrys...

Some motor options (start your internet research here!): 3s-ge, 3s-gte, 3vz-fe, 5vz-fe, 1mz-fe, 3mz-fe. You will also want to swap to a manual transmission, as the auto is robbing a lot of horsepower - lots of work to do there too. Transmission options: S51 (stock gen2 4-cylinder Camry manual), S53 (stock FWD Celica manual), E52 (stock gen2 6-cylinder Camry manual), E153 (MR2 turbo / 97-99 Camry V6 manual)

Ballpark numbers:
$2k-4k for ~200hp
$4k-7k for ~300-400hp
and up from there... double those costs at least if you are paying for labor.

Keep in mind then you would have a 20+ year old car with a weak chassis, bad brakes, skinny tires and worn suspension. Double the above numbers again to get the rest of the car to match the capabilities of whatever engine you have in there. Make sure you really want to do this before you start...

After all that, here is some inspiration:
(sleeper FWD Camry)

(current Alltrac Camry build)
