99% of the time my overdrive off light doesn't work but every once in a great while it will come on first thing in the morning but after I turn it on and off a couple times that's it for a couple months. The overdrive works fine and it's not the bulb or contacts. Anybody else have this problem?

you dont want the light to be on when the od switch is pressed in. only when it is in the off position do you want the light one

if it comes on when the car is started you have a short in your solenoid/speed sensor circuits or the sensors, or your CPU is going bad

Overdrive light when on = overdrive is turned off. The car won't get into overdrive gear (4th gear). Recommend to have the light off (overdrive enabled) to enable 4th gear. Useful for highway cruise speeds. Only time you want to turn off overdrive is if you want to use engine braking or climbing a steep hill when the transmission keeps hunting for gears (somewhat more common with the gutless 2SE)
