Led bulb conversion

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to change the interior lights to brighter more modern looking led bulbs?

The Heater controls
Shifter indicators
Dash Shifter indicators
Guages

I'd greatly appreciate it

guage cluster you can do just get 168/194 led ones it might be spotty due to the led nature. The rest are 74 bulbs, i don't think they make a led equal so you're on your own there. i don't know how well it'll illuminate you can just get some SMD led and solder them on if you're comfortable with that. you can even do that with the guage cluster too it'll be really bright and look awesome. seen it done on mr2 forum.

they dont sell like led "twist" bulbs that mimic the older incandescents?

I also have never taken the dash apart and wouldnt like to break anything, i was at the junkyard today and was going to experiment on a few cars but they were already picked through.

interesting side note, i saw someone with a V6 who had blew the PCV line from the front valve cover to the throttle body, spraying oil everywhere over the engine. I think they ran out of oil that way and siezed the engine up cause it was an immaculate car

like i said they do for the 168/194 which is in the cluster. the rest use 74 bulb which no one has made a led replacement since they're almost the same size as a led already. Also that the gear indicator bulbs are a dealers only part. That's why i suggest SMD led + resistor if you plan on replacing them.

I did the normal interior lights but none of the ones you've mentioned.

I got them from the below site and they have this cross reference list. I have no idea if any of the bulbs you need replaced are listed in it, didn't bother looking. I would call them to make sure after you think you selected the right replacement bulbs. Good luck and let's see some pics afterwards!

I'd like to do this conversion as well, but I'm deathly afraid of losing screws in the process. I've taken many a dash apart in my old cars, but mine is so minty it scares me. Before I practice at a JY, does anybody know how difficult it is to take apart the cluster?

I'd really like to replace all the bulbs with LED's (I got the marker lights done already and it looks amazing) since it's such a subtle, classy mod.

I'm hoping to do the front turn signals, license plate lights, as well as the map and dome lights and the courtesy lights in the doors. I'm just trying to figure out which LED bulbs to use for maximum brightness.
