Dang this is depressing

Okay, I was active here over a year ago when I owned a 2nd gen Camry wagon. The opportunity for a good deal on a much nicer car came up and I sold the little beast.
Here's what it looked like:

Anyway, I was walking around the local Pull A Part looking for Volvo stuff and what did I find?

I wasn't crazy about this car. It got me back and forth to work without killing me on gas, that was why I bought it. But Lord the work I put into this little windup car. Rebuilt the engine, new tires, fixed the AC, etc, etc. I hated to see it end up like this.
The kicker? The woman that bought it from me last year put 17K on it and never changed the oil or even waxed the poor thing. I tend to pamper my vehicles and this thing was no exception. Painful to find that not only did it get wrecked, but I'd passed it on to an abusive home.

Thanks y'all. Wanted to vent to a sympathetic audience.

Oh, if anyone's near East Tn. The engine on this thing had a complete rebuild. Rings, rod bearings, water pump, timing belt. Custom Crankshaft over on Chapman Highway rebuilt the cylinder head with all new parts.

Even with the abusive last owner, the engine would be worth grabbing. Hate to see it crushed. It is at Pull A Part on Rutledge Pike.

No, I am not pulling parts for anyone.

Understood, anytime I read the word Supra it makes me want to get one, I have not owned one (yet..) but I have loved them from the day they first came out. My then girlfriend was driving a Celica GT she picked up from a boyhood buddy, who in turn bought a "Black" first year out.

I am into OLd Toyota's and it's hard to find an ol' Supra thats clean and not the price of a new one.....

that is sad , I know how you feel. My mother had a mint 1989 Volvo 740 GL 4door sedan. It was all original; I always took care of it. She sold it to get the prius & my neighbor got a hold of it and trashed it . The interior was gone, marker lights & front fenders are all messed up & it looks like a junker now compared to the clean grocery getter it was before.

when i see how people treat new cars, i can only imagine how they treat old cheap ones. it is sad, i have a buddy who has had his brand new 2011 pickup for over 6 months now and has never washed it since he drove it off the lot. most people do not put taking care of their cars anywhere near the top of their priorities list.

I can get behind that. The guy that bought my first car rolled it three months later. A lot of memories in that Oldsmobile to see that happen to it.

Some people just don't care. It is an appliance and nothing more. I'll admit I don't treat my company car anywhere near as well as my personal vehicles. I keep up with the oil changes, run it through a car wash once or twice a month, have it waxed yearly and that is it.

I've got 287K on a '07 Fusion. I refuse to get attached to a car I'm killing that fast.

I hope that doesn't happen to an 1983 LE Camry that I had to pass. It was loaded with all options (premium radio, two tone trim, pwr everying incl. sunroof) with everything working, like factory AC. Immaculate except for some rust on the sunroof panel. Saw it around town and the person who was driving it didn't seem to had wash it in forever...
