A/C Retrofit

I am about to replace my compressor and I am going to retrofit it to r-134a while I'm at it. The manual for my new compressor has different oils to use based on refrigerant type, should I use the oil specified for r-12 since it is originally an r-12 compressor or use r-134a oil because I am retrofitting my system to r-134a. Also, does anyone know where I can find compressor oil? Thank you for any help.

I used 134a oil for my rebuilt compressor and got the oil from the rebuilder. I would think discount auto stores would have the oil. While at it I replaced every o-ring seal (there was a bunch of them) and drier. Cheap insurance in my opinion.

You need to use oil designed for R134 refrigerant (100 ml) and normally you do not have to remove mineral oil for R12 (unless it is contaminated badly) from the system
POE oil is better then PAG oil.

2nd Generation

You can buy refrigerant cans that have oil in them already...or a can of compressor oil from walmart for like 5 bucks.
