Does it matter which front mount to use auto or manual ?

I'm pretty sure I have the manual mount right now in my car instead of the auto mount that I'm supposed to have, but it appears they are the same part except for the rubber bushing at the top of them. Does it really matter which one to use? I see the manual mount is cheaper.

Also, which way do you put it in. Does the diagonal line(going from low to high angle) face the engine or the radiator ?

This is the last mount that I haven't changed and I still have a vibration and clunking at idle when in drive or reverse which has to be the front mount now. Otherwise my car runs perfectly.
