delay for wipers

Is there any aftermarket wiper delay set ups that would work on an 86?

Have you checked at JC Whitney? I know I've installed several on vehicles over the years that where aftermarket I bought at one of the local auto parts stores like Autozone. I've used ones that came w/control that clamps to the left turn signal handle, and one that had a knob that could be mounted on the dash somewhere.

On gen2 Camrys, many of us found that if you replace the standard wiper stalk with one from the LE model with variable intermittent wipers, it worked.

gen1 Camry is probably set up the same way. If you see a gen1 LE in the salvage yard, you may want to buy the wiper stalk and try it.

on eBay they are called combination switch. You see them for later model Camrys, but haven't seen one for a gen1.

Pull the plastic covering (three? screws) and the steering wheel (one 8mm bolt to remove horn button, 19mm nut to release wheel. Leave nut on a couple turns and rock wheel forward and backward at the top and bottom to remove from splined shaft) and then when you've got the wheel and the plastic covering removed, it's I want to say three screws to release the combo switch and then unplugging it.
