Check the fluid level carefully... Fully warm up the car (10+ miles of driving), stop the car on a level surface (engine running), go through all the gears slowly (P-R-N-D-2-1-2-D-N-R-P, 1 second each), then with the engine running, check the fluid level. It should be at or just below the hot mark.
If it is even a bit too high, it can cause the symptoms you are describing.
