Dave, I really hope that I dont have to do all of that to replace the frost plug. But if I have to do that then, thats what I will have to do.

There are multiple freeze plugs on the front and back of the motor. You will have to look to see which one it is to order the replacement part. The engine block is cast iron, but the plugs are coated steel. They look kinda like a metal version of the plastic end caps you would have on a poster tube (~2" diameter with a lip around it). Pop the old one out with whatever means you have (one was mentioned above, you can also use a self tapping sheet metal screw to get leverage), tap the new one in with a bit of sealant around it.
