Ok I know I have to replace my cv joint on the passenger side. I was driving it to work and went into the drive way and I heard this really loud grinding noise like I broke something. I get off work and try to turn out of my parking spot and hear the noise again and it doesnt go anywhere in gear. I put it in first and all I hear is the nasty loud grinding noise and doesnt go anywhere. My question is do you guys think I broke the center drive shaft? or something to do with the transmission? 88 camry 4 cyl man trans
I doubt you can break the center drive shaft. You'll have to get under the car and see, if one of the axle/CV is broken some how then the car won't move it's an open diff.

ok just making sure it wasnt the center shaft. Im sure i broke something in there cuz it wasnt moving. Im going now to go swap the cv out. ill take pics
ok just got done putting in the pass side and when I put it in gear and let the clutch out i still hear grinding. When I take it out of gear it sounds like something stays spinning and coming from the drive side. The joints on the drive side have no tears in them. should I replace the drive side or is it something in the trans?
got done doing the driver side and i snapped it at the wheel joint. Was trying to take the 6 bolts that holds it to the trans and it keep spinning. Cut the boot and all the little balls came falling out along with metal pieces. Ill post pic in a bit. thanks guys for the input
That doesn't look good. Funny, I was at the pick ur part yesterday pulling some 4runner seats for my yota truck. I went to go look at one of our camry's and on the ground were these 3 shiny steel marbles I thought were cool looking, so I put them in my pocket . I knew they were bearings, but now I know where they came from!

Did you go to Ball and Beach yard?
I was there too taking the steering knuckle with hub assembly for my Camry on Sunday around 9 am
Yes, I was at the one on Beach Blvd. in Anaheim! I was under a white camry at the time I found the shiny bearing balls, figuring out how that cable runs behind the neutral safety switch and into the transmission.
I also went to the stanton one on katella, that's where I found the sr5 console for my truck.
We should arrange a socal group meet someday at the yard.....well, maybe that won't work because we might fight over parts,

Personally I would love that idea
I am sure I will not fight for the parts. We could discuss some automotive issues, refine repair skills and share knowledge
Some sort of group-self education
When I was removing a steering knuckle, I got couple viewers who were surprised how a little 3-legged puller combined with single rap of the hammer released the tie-rod end!

Snug, whack, done!
I gotta get my Alltrac running again... and yes, a junkyard meet might be interesting. Brush up on your spanish. I always feel like I get weird looks when I roll up in a nice car as a white guy.
