Right Front CV Axle from Transmission to Rotor

I have been looking for replacement parts on my 1991 Toyota Camry LE 2.5L V-6. I am looking for cv axle replacement on the passengers side of the car. I have found the CV Axle at a local auto parts store but it is only the cv axle. It does not include the shaft that actually goes into the transmission and has a bearing installed on it. Does anybody know where to get a replacement for the transaxle between the cv axle and the transmission? Please let me know. Toyota has a new one piece but it is priced at over $500. Let me know. Thanks!

Why are looking to replace the carrier bearing? I checked several places and none of them have it, probably because it is rarely if ever replaced.

That "inner" shaft, if you will, does not need to be replaced unless that bearing is failing- which really isn't too terribly likely seeing as it doesn't take much of a load.

Just replace the outer- you will be good to go. If you really need to replace the whole thing, you could probably find a one-piece on RockAuto but I am of the opinion that the bolt-on axles are better... Easier to replace, anyway.

when i purchased cv axles from rockauto, the passenger side was complete and bolt-up ready. it had everything, the full axle plus the carrier bearing that is pressed onto the axle. obviously, it was significantly longer than the driver's side one.

of course, getting the old carrier bearing out of the mounting bracket was a royal b**ch.

Mine just slid right out of the bracket- I undid every bolt on the damn thing and then just pried on the old shaft where it went into the differential- the whole shaft and bearing just went "pop!" and came out. Slid the new one in and put the bolts back in. Works great.

The bearing appears to be bad. It barely turns at all. I have the old shaft and it is alright. I could replace the bearing if that is even possible.
