1990 Camry Squaling on Accel in Park

I need help!

I drive a 1990 Camry 4cyl with 275xxx miles on it. automatic.
Recently on the way home from a 40 min drive, i noticed my car lost all power on accel. I heard a blowing sound and found that I had to replace the vacuum tube from EGR valve to EGR vacuum. I replaced that, blowing noise went away but now I hear squealing noise when I depress accellerator. At idle, car sounds great. WHen I give it gas, i hear a squealing noise that continues as long as gas is depressed. It seems like it's coming from the engine. I can limp it around but traffic is passing by while I feel like a dumbass. At this point I have near zero accelleration (although i hear revving and rpms increase) and can barely make it up any sort of hill. The sound ONLY occurs when i give it gas...and again, I have near zero power and accelleration. I have done some research, cat convertor maybe? belt tension? clogged fuel filter? timing belt?

ideas and diagnostics?

RE:1990 Camry Squaling on Accel in Park

So, is the engine is revving appropriately while in gear, and you're just not accelerating? or does the engine feel/sound stifled? IF, the rpms increase like they should normally and you are just not accellerating normally, then you make have tranny issues (is it a manual trans? clutch worn?)

But if you are experincing slow acceleration, and bogging (kinda feels like the car weighs a million pounds) then i would consider, vacuum line loose/cracked, fuel filter, cat converter, and sometimes even ignition (plug wires cracked and jumping fire) issues can produce these symptoms. is the check engine light on?
