2nd Generation Really??

So I got my car from a neighbor of my parents. I looked over the car and noticed that they had a tow bar that was bolted to the bottom of the spare tire compartment.

Is this normal for small cars?

My first thought after seeing this was to rip it out because there is no way I would use it!

What do you guys think about this??

Most any car can tow something. I've seen a lot of waverunners and bike haulers behind cars. You aren't going to be towing a boat or travel trailer anytime soon... but it might come in handy one day.

I wasn't doubting the face that cars like Camrys can tow things. I was questioning the fact that they put the tow bar on the bottom of the spare tire compartment.

Well it's pretty hard to tell you anything about that without seeing a pic or two. Most hitches are specifically designed for each application.

I've towed a full sized chevy suburban using the toe hooks on my 86 with no problem. You can toe anything you want with these cars.

There are pre-installed weld-nuts on the bumper beam. I don't know whey anyone would attach a tow bar to the spare tire well, as aftermarket bolt-on hitch receivers are cheap.

I use my 1 1/4"' hitch reciever for a bike rack. I don't think I will ever tow with it (I use my WRX for that, and in the future I would use a truck/SUV).
