spare tires?

Im just curious as to how many of you still carry a spare? When I got my camry a few months ago my spare was pretty much flat, I aired it up and checked it a few days ago while checking my other tires, and again it's flat. Im debating on replacing the tire or just removing it and maybe getting one of those small compressors and a patch kit. I've only had to use a spare twice before and once just because my tires were crap and didn't put air in them that morning, just want to here some opinions.

Don't know why anybody would NOT carry a spare. They are a very welcome item when needed.

Go to a salvage yard and buy a spacesaver for cheap.

I used to not carry ANYTHING in my Talon, but had enough flats within a short amount of time to change driving without the spare.

Now wont drive it unless i have my spare, a full size jack, a tool box, and a few spare parts are loaded up...(It has...alot of "side of the road down time" lol)

I have more spares than I have cars, I average between 300 to 400 miles a week, most of my driving is in open country so my goal is to always carry a good spare.

I have been known to dispose of space savers and replace them with a same size. What I think of space savers is not fit for print, they are OK, I just happen to have personal biases…

If you live in the city and most of your driving takes place in city/ urban areas you could problay get by without carrying a spare by getting a membership to triple AAA to tow you to the nearest tire shop, or maybe home?

But from what I have seen of some of Nevada’s desolate roads I sure as hell wouldn’t drive out of the city limits without one

But many of those cars come with Run-Flat tires.

A spare is invaluable. About 4 months ago I hit a pot-hole so hard it bent the alloy wheel. Fortunately I had a spare, unfortunately I had left my jack under the camp trailer when we brought it home. On the up-side someone stopped and let me use their jack. So yes, I would agree, you should go to a wrecking yard/recycler and pick up a full size spare. I usually try to get one with the OEM style alloy wheels so the spare matches when it's mounted.

The car has a full size spare so I just need a tire. I have the basket weave rims and all the cars in junk yard have steel rims like my spare. With your opinions you've talked me into just keeping my spare thanks for your opinions

Its too bad that run flats don't solve all the problems (flat >50 miles from anywhere, blow or cut sidewalls, bent rims, etc.). Sometimes on high-end sports cars they give you a tire inflator and a can of fix-a-flat

It my case, the original spare tire doesn't fit (upgrade brakes), so I will be carrying a temporary puncture repair kit, pump and tools...

I spend too much time out of cell phone range and out of AAA towing range to risk it.
