1990 Camry questions

I purchased a dx 4 banger with 67500 miles. Runs perfect except a minor rough idle ( very minor). Should I change the timing belt because of age? I know under severe driving they say 60000. Love the car!

Rough idle would more likely be caused by a worn ignition system or slightly clogged fuel injectors. How long has it been since other tune-up maintenance? (miles and years, since the car is so low mileage)

Timing belt should be replaced anyway if it is still the original.

White, thank you for the reply. I'm not sure when the last tune up was but, the parts are cheap so I'll change them out. The auto seatbelts are a little bit of a pain as is the button you push to take key out but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm sure the timing belt has never been changed. I also need to work on the dome light, it only works in manual setting. It doesn't come on when you open the door when switch is in the middle.
Can you change the rim size without changing the rotors? I would like to upgrade the rim and tire size if it isn't to big of a deal. Do hondas, nissans and other brands fit?

For ignition components, use OEM (Toyota) parts - yes, they are more expensive but they last 2-3x as long and really work well. For spark plugs, just use standard NGK or Denso copper core plugs. Platinum, etc. is a waste on this motor (they are really easy to change, and at $1.99 each, you can replace them as often as you want!).

You quickly get used to the button. It just takes 3 fingers and they key is out... The seatbelts will always be annoying.

For the dome light - does the warning light on the dash work when any of the doors are open? The pin switches in the door get dirty/old and sometimes stop working (only the front ones in my Alltrac work...). You can get replacements or try to clean your current door switches.

For wheels - the rotors/brakes/etc. are not related to the wheels - as long as there is enough room inside for them (as there should be with any wheels bigger than stock). Your best bet for inexpensive upgraded wheels are from pretty much any newer Celica (as long as it has 5 lug holes and is from an '87+ Celica, it will fit). It would be good to search the forum here for more information regarding new wheels.
