I would like to put nicer rims on my stock 1990. Can I put bigger rims and tires without changing rotors or other parts? Are their other makes ( Honda?) that are a straight change besides maybe Toyota? Thanks
Thanks Tom, if I understand you correctly, as long as the bolt pattern and off set is the same I can get a larger diameter rim?
Almost - the hub center bore should also be the same (54.1mm). If you get aftermarket wheels, you use centering rings to get it right. The offset just has to be 'right' but not exactly the same, and the 'right' offset also depends on the wheel width.
The Celica wheels mentioned are the most likely to fit well. The Matrix and Prius wheels probably have a slightly high offset, causing the wheels to be pushed 'inward' on the car and possibly hit the strut. If you get tires with the wheels, make sure they are the right overall rolling diameter (there are tire size calculators online elsewhere that you can use to figure that part out).

Charlie and others, I'm looking at some celica gt-s eom rims, 16" 5x100. . These should bolt right on with no modifications? He is asking $320 for all four, tires have one season left so I'll be looking for some tires because of the climate an hour south of Chicago. Thanks for all the replys.
The seller just got back to me, their off a 2001 gt-s !!
Good choice on the wheels, and a decent price. This is what they should look like:
(though, my old car was lowered...) That is without anything special, though you will need different lug nuts (just get the ones meant for the Celica, the wheels require washer-style lugs, not cone-style lugs).

Um, my lug nuts are open washer style but their off a plain steel rim. The ones from the celica should be washer style too. Only finished? If he doesn't have the original lug nuts and I want to mount them, who, what auto store has the best price? Thanks for helping this noob, especially on a holiday!!
Pep boys would have the correct lugnuts regardless of size or style. A pack of 4 is 5.99 for a closed end, 4.99 for an open end. Just make sure to get 12mmx1.50, I made the mistake of getting the wrong size and it cost me dearly.
