90 Camry Blower Motor

Hi all, I am new to this forum and have searched for information regarding this. My blower motor used to be really loud when it was turned on like I could hear it outside the car. It has since stopped working at all. The AC light will still come on and it clicks when I turn on the fan switch. I do not believe it would be the resistor because its not working at all. Does this sound like the actual blower motor went bad?

It is starting to get cold and I would like to have heat again

Very possible that the motor is bad. Only way to really know is to unplug it and test with 12V.

My 90 makes some noise on high, even vibrates a bit. I was also wondering if it's tough to change out?

Pop out the lower footwell trim. The blower motor is just above where your right foot would be when stretched out. I believe its held in with just 3 screws. I don't think you have to remove the lower dash panel and glove compartment to replace it...

I'am Sorry, no Pic's

Swapped out old blower motor with a salvaged yard unit (cost = $25.00). Works better/stronger than ever.

Old motor/fan cage turned with what appeared to be enough reluctance to prevent it from rotating on initial stand still/start up transition. I may bench test my theory at a later date.

I choose the following steps to remove / replace my bad motor. Time was approximately 1 hour.

1. Placed the car on drive up ramps, for better under dash access height.
2. Removed the glove box, disconnect glove box lighting connectors, set G-box on drivers seat
3. Remove speaker grill using wide tip screw driver (or wide putty knife)
4. Remove the six bolts (10 mm) and 2 nuts (10mm) as well the screws holding the lower dash pad in place. Remove dash pad and set it on driver seat
5. Disconnect heater control connector; disconnect blower motor connector, as well as the white connector directly above it.
6. Remove blower motor black vent hose (flexible type)
7. Remove three screws (8 mm/ Phillips) holding the blower motor and fan housing in place
8. Connect the replacement blower motor, and re-connect the heater control. Test for operation.
9. If motor works follow the removal in reverse order

Yea’ I sweated mine for about six months, when it finally stopped I repaired mine, Boy-Howdy I was surprised how simple the repair was.

I am 6ft 225 lbs, so for me it was easier to do as listed, for a smaller more limber fellow they have may not have to remove all the parts

IF it's not your motor, check the relays on the bottom kick panel (passenger) near the door hinge as my '90 model has water leaking from the outside, filling these relays with water, corroding them.

Australian version has relays on LH side with fuses on RH (drivers side).
