MAF Sensor

Hey does anyone have the resistance readings for the MAF on an '88 3S-FE handy? I just want to double check against my chilton manual as one of the readings it lists for the 3S-FE is nowhere near mine (supposed to be 3000-7000 and I read 300) but it is in the range of it for the V6 engine so I want to make sure these weren't switched or something

Also, the car failed on emissions, on everything. High CO, and High HC at idle and under load. If anyone has any other ideas of what to check it would be very greatly appreciated.

First, a stupid technical thing - What you are testing is an AFM (air flow meter) not a MAF (mass air flow) sensor. An AFM uses the big flapper door, a MAF uses a hot wire sensor (generally).

For the tests, here is what the wiring diagram says:

(Q) AIRFLOWMETER
1–2 : CLOSED WITH STARTER RUNNING MEASURING PLATE OPEN
5–6 : 200–600 Ω (MEASURING PLATE FULLY CLOSED) 20–1200 Ω (MEASURING PLATE FULLY OPEN)
5–4 : 200–400 Ω
5–7 :
10–20 KΩ (–20°C, –4°F)
4–7 KΩ (0°C, 32°F)
2–3 KΩ (20°C, 68°F)
0.9–1.3 KΩ (40°C, 104°F)
0.4–0.7 KΩ (60°C, 140°F)

It sounds like your's might be in spec... Verify that there are no 'dead spots' in the resistance between pins 5 and 6 (brown wire and yellow-green wire)
