So whats your Favorite Mod you have done to your gen 2 Camry?
So after I bought my 88 Camry Alltrac, I was thinking "this is the car I will just leave alone..stock and not change anything other than OEM parts." Wrong.
Its really a fantastic car...shifts well, handles well (jeez for stock...hell yeah!!) brakes real nice, rides real smooth and not harsh at all, love the seats too! buuuuut after a year of owning it, I start to do my thing...I want to make it a bit more peppy, possibly hit the corners with more spirit, and have some better looks. So far I have Silverstars (that were in my 5.0) and that's about it.
really I'm thinking future mods might be; rear sway bar..some GTS celica wheels...better air intake...better flowing exhaust... I really want to convert my front sidmarkers to become my blinkers and have my OEM blinkers replaced with a set of good driving lights (anyone do that yet?) ...springs? hmm...maybe those brass shift bushings too...oh good plugs as well.
So whats your favorite mod you have done that suits you best..in any of the categories..pics?
This and a heavier rear sway is all I will be doing with mine, as well... Though probably in reverse order (sway, coilovers, then 3SGTE)
Edit: Though as of right now, my personal favorite "mod" was replacing the throttle body with a home-rebuilt unit complete with functional electronics. I used to have some weird things going on (idle would drop and pulse but only while braking at high speeds) and the idle was erratic- it did not surge but sometimes it would remain a steady 900, other times it would jump to 1400... But never while the car was running. Only between starts.
Slapped in the new tb and fired it up... Made easily half again as much power at all rpms and it generally runs nicer.
Mostly because nobody else has done it yet (apparently):
Nice work! I did the same thing with my 89 5.0...I got some Acura TSX HID projectors and did a custom instal on some aftermarket clear housing ones. Weather proofed it all too. The way they light up the road is just amazing. What are yours out of?

HA, i hope you mean in just normal mild driving...when i try and push mine any harder than a grandma would, its ruff.

my struts are shot to hell. my rear looks like its dropped 2-3 inches. this is without passengers.
i was going to replace them this time last year but i still havent gotten around to it...
i do like the way the car brakes though, i have felt secure in heavy braking many times, only have i worried about the struts diving
the best 'upgrade' ive done so far has been my rear swaybar and my stereo haha. the old mounts were just loose, so i essentially had no swaybar. i made them nice and tight with some new bushings. i can only imagine how the car handles with 4 tight corners. besides catching up on some maintenance, if i keep the car longer i plan on getting the struts, and then seeing if i can reroute my crossover exhaust pipe to a Y pipe and gain some power, then getting rid of the cat. maybe see if i can get the heads off, replace the gaskets and get some custom cams ;]
the 2vz has SO much potential, if only i had the money and time and the resources
