I guess it might be an issue with the distributor... Could it maybe be standing water from hitting a puddle? I thought of that but was in a hurry and couldn't open it up.
I checked the distributor plugs (the Chilton's said some along the lines of the G and Esomething wires having a short or open fault) but could not for the life of me find anything loose... But I guess water might do it. I once got a small drip of water into the cap on the '91 and the engine simply... Turned off. It was most mysterious.
It might be an overall problem with the distributor, too... The car is 23 years old and it is all factory original engine equipment save for basic tuneup items like plugs, wires, etc.
