2nd Generation Valance and Engine mounts (again)

would this be worth the buy or should i try to scour the local yards for a lower valance?

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/198...nce_panel.html

also, i just replaced this mount not even 4 months ago and its doing this.is that tear bad? and what could cause this to go so fast? i replaced the rear, front, and middle mounts.

It's hard to find a good/decent condition lower valance at the junk yard. I've been to many. You can try your luck I've swapped my 88 lower valane for the newer 91 design at the junk yard. The only bad thing is hard to find the color you want in good condition.

Have you taken a closer look again....that may be an area of the mount that is just excess rubber from the mold. Here's a picture from rockauto...showing what I mean. I remember when I did my mounts one area had a real thin layer of rubber and in some areas the thing rubber was tearing off. It was just excess from the mold so I didn't care.

since you redid your mounts, how did you do the tranny and timing belt hanger ones?

The timing belt side I did when I changed the timing belt, so no big deal. The transmission one I did after the top end build, but it wasn't very difficult. I just had a hard time finding the right one and ended up using an OEM one. I didn't like the aftermarket ones, they looked flimsy to me. I think I put a jack under the tranny to hold it while I changed it out if i remember correctly.

The valence will be metal in primer if its new. If you 'upgrade' to the '91 version, you will also need to get the plastic grill and clips.

The mount looks find, after a second look. Put your finger in there - I think you will find that is just mold flash like the others have mentioned.

ah im just so hesitant to do that because i did that to move the engine (well hold it) when doing these 3 mounts because i forgot to crack the bolts holding them to the mount brackets. i know the hanger mounts are toast, they do nothing to keep the engine from "twisting". i think the tranny mount controls most of that?

long story short, the block slipped a bit and i heard a crack. i think it was the block itself slipping. i know it wasnt the pan and i dont think it was the sealant on the pan but i cant tell with the oily mess there anyways.
