Dist O-Ring

Ok, so I bought an o-ring for the dist. I pulled the dist and there was no o-ring.

I'm not exactly sure where to place the o-ring because there wasn't one there to begin with..

It's a 91 Camry with a 3SFE.

Help?

Thanks!

There are Two... Not sure which O-ring you’re asking about

(A) To change out the distributor cap O-ring:
1. Unscrew to screws retaining the cap, lift off cap
2. Clean with alcohol the area where old O-ring was seated
3. Install replacement O-ring being sure it’s seated in the groove ( I use O-ring grease for this, (however Vaseline can be used in pinch)

(B) To change out the distributor shaft O-ring:
1. Mark the location of the distributor and ( both) the adjusting bracket using same(matching mark) location on the engine head.
2. Unbolt the two bolts upper and lower distributor retaining bolts, note location if one is longer than the other (it’s been a while for me)
3. Pull outward on the distributor body, (maybe stuck), take careful of notch on distributor shaft and do not rotate distributor.
4. Remove O-ring located on the shaft one inch below distributor body

PS: Some online venders show the O-ring on thier parts breakdown

I'm actually inquiring about O-Ring B on your list. When I pulled the distributor out, there was no O-Ring on the shaft. So, I had no idea where to put it.

When I pull the distributor, the shaft has 2 prongs which looks like it goes into the cam. You are saying the o-ring must go on the shaft with the 2 prongs?

Awesome!

That's crazy that there was no O-Ring there! No wonder it's been leaking quite a bit. lol
