1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have been wanting to see this in detail as well. All I have been able to do is put it up on a hoist..very interesting stuff. Especially due to how rare these cars are today. Any one have Gen 2 Assembly line photos? that would be really cool.
all I want is a diagram showing the different links and mounting points and such of the rear suspension
Its a pretty standard MacPherson strut design, modified by using slightly non-parallel lateral links to give a some amount of dynamic toe under compression/extension and also soft bushings on the trailing arms for a similar purpose.
To aid in your search (I would suggest some time on google to see what you can find), the Celica Alltrac rear suspension is exactly the same as the Camry Alltrac rear suspension aside from spring/damper tuning.

1990 Camry DX 3S-FE 5spd - The original white90dx; gone but not forgotten
The '94-'98 Celica GT4 (never sold in the US) has longer tubular lateral links. The other ones are essentially identical ('87-'93). That will get you well on your way to understanding it - but let us know if you have any specific questions.
Remember that the front suspension on the Camry Alltrac matches the FWD Camry and is different from the Celica Alltrac (though things like axles and strut geometry cross over).

So the tubes are longer, but the layout is otherwise the same. It'd still give him a good starting place.
did they change the front suspension drastically on the camry between the 91 & 92???
Yes. It is still a McPherson strut setup, but the mounting points are different. The lower arms changed to traditional a-arms instead of the strait control arm with combined radius arm/swaybar of the gen2 Camry. The hubs are also different. I don't think anything crosses directly over.
