Those rims will fit as long as the bolt pattern is 5x100.

I suggest some lower-profile cooper tires.

The 5x114.3 is the pattern for newer camrys gen3 and above. Gen 2 Cams definitely have 5x100 bolt pattern.

215/40/17 will fit, but your speedo will be off.

With a 17x7 wheel, go with 205/45/17.

205/45/17 is the closest to the stock size (185/70/14).

215/40/17 1.8% too fast

215/45/17 1.7% too slow.

205/45/17 0.3% too slow.

I got the numbers from the link that was posted above.

I have 17 x 7 rims on my 2nd gen(90 camry) and 205/45/17's. I believe my offset is about 40mm also. My car is lowered and They fit perfect and never rub no matter how hard I push. I think I am going with some 215/45/17's next time though for the extra meat. Don't really care about my speedo being off.

^ i think he wants to increase width. 205 > 215.

On 7" rims though, that be skinny wheels on fat tires. Not good for handling as sidewalls are pulled into the wheel and may cause some ballooning of the tire. Means decreased contact and uneven wear. I would check for that package.

Both.

First # = width

Second # = aspect ratio. Its a percentage of the first number. In this case it would be 45% of 205 (92.25) and 45% of 215 (96.75).

Third # = diameter of tire.

Well actually, it's not big at all. They told me they actually had some trouble stretching the 205's on my car. If you look at the Mazdaspeed Protege, one of the best handling fwd cars ever created, it came with 215/45/17 on 17x7 rims also(they actually changed it from 205's).

How do you figure?

215/45/17 fit just fine on a 7" wide wheel.
