Hi, I was wondering if any body knows how to remove the speed limiter for a Gen 2 camry, 4cyl. Right now it kicks in just a tick about 190 km/h. Naturally, i want to go faster
and please don't tell me to search, because i have, and there is some stuff on limiters out there, but nothing that i can find for a gen 2, and nothing concrete on how to actually remove it.
Do they actually have speed limitors on Gen 2 4Cyls?
Maybe your car just runs out of steam.
I can't see a Gen 2 3SFE running too much more than 190. Maybe 200-210 if your lucky (but your car would have to be in good condition.)

Yeah, there are limiters on the car. My car would run into the governor at about 111 mph. Seems like not every car had them though, just most of them.

yes its a limiter, as soon as i hit like 192ish, its almost like i shift into neutral, you can feel it kick it. the rpms aren't even that high so i know it has more in it. I i only really want to hit 200, then i'm happy
I'd leave it alone. Chances are your tires won't handle it, let alone the suspension and perhaps the braking and safety features the car is equipped with (or without).
With my suspension and Tires, I can cruise at speeds of over 100 no problem. I have actually taken curves at 110+ mph no problem but I think I am starting to realize that going that fast doesn't really serve a purpse either.
Make sure you have adequate suspension and performance tires before you go trying to get rid of the limiter. Upgraded brakes are a nice thing also. I have actually been going 100+ several times and needed to brake all the way to like 60 mph or less QUICKLY on several occasions. If I hadn't had TRD brake pads on my car, the result would have been very ugly.
Currently my car is faster than it has ever been but I just don't find the need to go that fast.
With that said, the Apexi rev/speed meter should allow you to get rid of the governor.
i just asked if anyone knew how to remove it, not whether i should or not. 200km is not THAT fast, and i'm only doin it once to say i got to 200 in a camry, and for a nice photo. an extra 8 km/h isn't goin to make a diff with my brakes suspension, its goin in a straight line on the highway.
