I have a quick question which I hope maybe someone would know the answer to. I have an 88 camry 4cyl. 2wd with about 178K on it. It essentially runs great, except for one flaw. Occasionally, if I take the car on a short drive (less than 1 mile or 3 minutes drive time), shut it off, then come back soon after (within 5 to 15 minutes) and start the car, it will stall out as soon as I begin to accelerate. I can immediately restart the car, it will usually stall once or twice more, then it basically runs fine, without any problems. If anybody has any experience with this, I would love to hear it. I hope I have provided enough info, otherwise let me know if I can tell anymore to help. This is my first stop at this forum, I am looking forward to checking it out some more.

Thanks

Hmmm... Stalling...

Does it struggle or does it just give out? Could have something to do with the correct air/fuel mixture not being re-adjusted after the short run.

With stalling, it could be a number of things, though. Try with a basic injector cleaner that can be added to your gas, and if that doesn't help, try a throttle body cleaner, which is a DIY job.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Use some injector cleaner too and if its still ahpends check many things like the spark plugs, wires and distributor for any damage. If this does not corect the problem i recomend going to a garage cause its probably a big problem.

It could be an intermittant problem with the ignition system.

Does the car stall more often when its cold or raining?

Remove the distributor cap and check the coil to see if its cracked (happens all the time on 2nd gen Camrys).
