Hi guys,
Got the whiteline rear swaybar recently, and figured I might as well
replace some of the bushings while I'm under there too!
Couple of questions?
1-I've heard that Poly bushes tend to create a lot more noise and vibration
than the stock ones, any truth in that? (Spent a lot of money on suspension
already, don't want any annoying noises going on)
2-If I do decide to get the poly bushes, is there a kit with all the bushes? (I'm
having a bit of trouble figuring out all the part no's)

My RSB did come with poly bushings and grease.

What color are the bushings because I think that makes a difference. I have heard that the black ones are the quietest of them all and then red ones are have the most noise. I think you will be fine though as long as you grease them and keep them greased up. Also you might want to consider getting at least poly bushings on your sway bar because what is the point in having a nice thick bar and crappy bushings.
where do you get these poly bushings from i can't seem to find them
The bushings are made by Superpro , an OZ company. As far as I know Whiteline sell them in Oz, I think CT Motorsport might sell them in US, as they
sell Whiteline stuff. GlobalPerformanceParts sell them in US too. As well as a few companies in Europe. Not hard to find these bushings, in my experience..

Bushings should not ADD noise, but they will transmit more noise from the road and suspension. If you don't want a performance car (and the associated noise and roughness) don't do it. If the bushings get low on grease, they will start squeaking/creaking - that's when you know its time to re-grease them.
That being said, the bushings are about as stiff as the stock rubber on my WRX, so I don't mind the little extra harshness at all.
I have the rears still to install, then its off to get the car fully aligned. (I already have springs, struts and swaybars installed).

I've been wondering some of the same things. Energy Suspension also makes control arm bushings in a black "graphite impregnated" poly. I'm an engineer and I don't buy that you sprinkle a little graphite in and it won't just wear off the surface in 2 days. People talk about using marine grease to keep them quite.
I'm annoyed with some of the play in my suspension, like how you have ease off the brakes very gently or the whole thing kinda snaps back when the car comes to a rest. Maybe that's just a problem of the design compared to a double arm or wishbone. I'm thinking that big rubber bushing at the back of the control arm puts a lot of play into it, but maybe softens up the ride - at least until it's worn out. I'm not dying to make the any rougher than it already is. It's got 105K miles, but the arm bushings look OK. I don't know when or if they were replaced.
I've seen rubber replacement bushings and even cheap asian replacement arms with rubber bushings already installed.
Upshot is, I'd LOVE to hear anyones experience with changing out these bushings, either with rubber or poly or whatever. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! Anyone with experience, please share!!

Anybody have any major issues pulling the stock rubber out? Mine are so worn at 215,000 miles, I don't think they should give me much trouble. I'm just hoping I don't have to take them to a machine shop to have them pressed out.

I finally got all the rear bushings installed over the weekend. All of the bushings were do-able at home except for the rear lateral links. I used a two-jaw puller and a socket to press the bushings out in my garage and most of the bushings are two piece when the go back in. I went to a shop to get the one-piece bushings put back in.
The car got aligned two days ago, and I will be driving the car tonight for the first time... The alignment guy was very proud of his work at says that all the suspension problems are gone (not bad for a 4-wheel alignment for $50!). I'm really looking forward to having the suspension 'done'

Charlie - Glad to hear the front bushings aren't too much of a pain. I know I won't have any issues with re-installation, gotta love 2-piece I'm also going to sand down and paint the control arms while they are off, they aren't looking too pretty. Also doing set of OEM coils and Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks (This is my daily driver) But other than Intrax, does anyone even make aftermarket springs for a 2G V6? How much do you want for the rear set, and which ones are included? Let us know how you like them!
Atobe - I only pay $49 for a 4-wheel alignment at Merchants Auto (Tire Kingdom subsiduary) in Maryland. I'd be bitter if I had to pay all most $100 for that!

Woo ha, I got the car back from the alignment last night. You can definitely feel EVERY imperfection in the road, even with the 70-series tires I still have on the car. The car sticks to the road way better than it should for the crappy tires that are on there.
I still have an issue though - the front end shakes on acceleration. It happens less often now that it is aligned. All of the suspension componenets are fine, as far as I can tell... I'm going to be checking the wheel bearings, steering rack bushings and re-doing the custom suspension crossmember (custom to clear my exhaust) to see if any of that fixes the problem.

Installed my SuperPro Inner and Outer LCA Bushings on Thursday. Very Impressed. I didn't do the complete set as Charlie did so I can't speak on that. But with just doing the Front LCA bushings, I am getting zero additional road feedback. I definately attribute this to the softer type of poly SuperPro uses. Chassis vibration is nowhere near what I was getting using the Energy Suspension kit on my 88 CRX Si and 97 Eclipse GST. Turn in response is, of course, much improved, as compared to the mostly dead bushings I removed. For the price, you cannot go wrong with these.
Picked mine up from Global Performace via Zach Thomas. Have nothing but positive feedback for them. He quickly answered the couple questions I had, shipped same day, and I had them in my hands 2 days later. Link provided by ZFreeman above.
One further note... The Outer Bushings, or Sway bar Mount bushings, where easy to remove. Just need to chisle out the metal ring on either side of the LCA and they pop right out with the proper amount of force =) The inner bushings on the other hand.. Well, took me 2 hours to completely remove the pass. side bushing - ended up running the driver side out to a local machine shop and had it pressed out for $5. I reccommend just having them both removed at a machine shop if you have one close by, couldnt imagine them charging more that $15 to do both sides, and will only take them 5 or 10 minutes.
