I was quoted $500 to fix a sunroof that simply wont close. Any suggestions? They said they thought a cable was broken...

Thanks

not a prob man...my advice to u is to completely stay away from those dealers since they already told u that it was the cable indeed...i had the same from where i could hear the thing running but i got no movement... eventually i took the moon roof off and found that it was indeed the cable... i pretty much doubt its the cable itself that snaps bc its pretty stong... im my instance the ends broke off from the window frame (im sure if ur a handy tool man u might even be able to glue/drill them back in place.... so the wire just went all around leaving the window in place... but i went to a yunk yard and well only had to pay $21 for the whole thing:frame with cable and even came with a factory tinted window ...
ps. removing it is not hassle...should take about 1 hr or less...... just makre sure that u remove all screws including some hidden ones that hold the motor in place, u can access them by removing the moon roof switch panel and pulling down on the roof lining to get to them from the bottom...helps to take the whole thing out too by opening the window all the way so u can pop it off and then close it back up as it all comes out as one piece...hint: it helps if u take off the roof handles too for easier access to the hidden screws... hope it all goes well..forget the dealers!!!
