1987 Camry tech questions

I have a solid little 1987 Camry with the 2000 engine in it. I'm looking to install a few perf parts but keep the car looking almost completely stock (sleeper). So I have a few questions, as the internet hasn't been very resourceful to me so far. Anything that has worked well for you or you know to have worked well for others with this car or a similar car (Celica esp, as it shares the same engine and many parts).

1) Wheels- I am looking to replace my wheels with something with a slightly wider track and slightly lower profile. but without being real flashy or obvious. So I was wondering if any other car companies share the same stud configuration as the one on my camry?

2) Air Filter- Something that will fit nicely under the hood and works well/ isn't very loud (preferably).

3) Shocks/Strut- To lower the ride maybe 1/2" to 1".

4) Maybe eventually an easy engine swap. What existing engines swap neatly and easily with an 87 Camry?

Any other ideas too.

1. New-age Celica GT and GTS wheels are good bolt-ons. Get good tires and they will serve you well.

2. K&N drop-in filter or get the cone filter adapter on Ebay. EL Prototypes makes a cold-air-intake for your car. Either of the open-element options will be loud when you are on the throttle, but they are quiet when cruising.

3. Intrax springs are your only easy to find option. They lower about 2" in the front and 1" in the rear. KYB GR-2 and Tokico blues are you options for struts. The Tokico's are only available for servicable struts.

4. The all but the latest generation 3s-ge and 3s-gte motors bolt in with the same motor mounts and will work with the gen2 manual tranny just fine. Wiring is a different challenge.

Although a cone filter sure looks cool (and sounds nice), is the performance advantage really worth all that extra money over the drop-in K&N?

Oh also do you have any idea what brand makes the cone filter adapter?

Oh also unfortunatly it's an automatic, will said engines work fine with the automatic too? I really dont wanna buy a new tranny.

If you want to build your own CAI (cold air intake) or buy one, go with a cone filter.

Otherwise go with the K&N drop in.

Yes, on a 3S-GE.

No, on a 3S-GTE. Unless you get ahold of ECU from a Toyota Caldina or go with a standalone.

youll find that the k&n panel costs MORE then a cone+filter adapter.
