Will a 88 CV axle fit a 91??

I have a 1991 4 cylinder auto that is in need of a drivers side CV axle. A friend of mine has a 88 parts car with the same engine and tranny. I was going to take his axle, but it doesn't look the same (I haven't removed it yet). On my 91 it snaps into the tranny, and on the 88 it looks like it is different. Will it fit?

The axle either pops into or bolts onto the tranny.

You can't swap out a pop in type with a bolt on type and vise versa.

A quick way to check is to go online to any of the auto parts retailer's sites. Look for the part for your 91 and record the part number. Then, do the same thing for the for the 88. If the 2 part numbers are the same, it should be the same part for either year. If they are different, then you are out of luck.
