2nd Generation 89 Camry brake depression prob

I searched and could not seem to find my problem, maybe I just don't know how to search for it. Anyway, while running the brakes seem to slowly let out while braking as i stop. The brake just keeps givin slowly until they're almost all the way pressed down. I can pump the brakes and it seems to regain some pressure but looses almost as fast. What should I be looking for? The brake fluid under the hood is between the lines. Could there be a clog?? Could this lead to total brake failure? I've been driving for a couple days like this and its has me worried that the brakes will fail. Stopping power has reduced a bit as well.

Thanks for any insight

If there are no signs of leaking, like you said, then it is probably the master cylinder. The o-rings will wear out after awhile, allowing fluid to bypass back into the reservoir.

It's the master cylinder. When I got my 87 I had the same problem. Change that and bleed the system then you should be good to go.

Well replaced master cylinder and while trying to bolt on the last of the 3 mounting bolts to the booster the friggin bolt broke . Anyone know if the bolt can be removed? From the hayes manual it looks like its built into the brake booster. Hate to have to replace the whole booster over one bolt.
