I have a 1986 Camry with 80,000 original miles. The transmission was serviced at about 60K miles. Recently I have had problems with the transmission not going into overdrive, even though the o/d button is depressed. It has plenty of fluid. It seems to shift fine until it gets to a point where it should go into o/d. It does not slip when attempting to go into o/d. It just doesn't go into o/d. I have been told that this is possibly a solenoid problem. If so, is this easy to replace? Where can I find a schematic/diagram of the transmission and how to replace the solenoid. To say the least, I went from 30-32 MPG to about 20. In addition, I would think that I am probably putting some premature wear and tear on the engine by running at about 3000 RPM at highway speed. Can anyone help me out on this? Any suggestions?
Thanks - MIKE
