Headlight relay - where is it on 1991 Camry

Can someone tell me where the headlights relay is located on the 1991 Toyota Camry that sounds when you leave your headlights on? I am tired of jumpstarting my car for leaving my headlights on after exiting the car.

Headlight relay is in the fusebox under the hood. Its used for powering the headlights, not the buzzer.

The buzzer is in the seatbelt computer which is underneath the center console, behind the shifter.

Mine beeps, but I also have the auto headlight turn off feature.

When you take the key out of the ignition and open/close (I forget which, but I think its open) the drivers side door, the headlights turn off.

I tried searching for the answer to my question but I could not find a single post telling me where the silly headlight relay (or buzzer) is located on the 1991 Toyota Camry. I have looked in my HAYNES auto repair manual, checked with the dealer by telephone, talked to other Camry owners, and searched the web. I have done everything but call CAR TALK.

I have a console behind the shifter. Is it under the console? Is it easy to replace? In the old days they were in the glove box of the car and you simply unplugged the relay and plugged in the new one. Is it this easy once I take the console out? If it is not under the console then how do I get to it?

2nd Generation Headlight Relay buzzer

No Gen 2 Camry's have headlight ON buzzers

You MUST install it yourself (EASY) look below for instruction..

Also The ONLY models that turn off headlights when the key is out and the drivers door is opened are the LE MODELS ONLY (unless modified by me).

if you don't want to jump your car every time you leave the lights on do this;

  1. Buy a $4 chime from Radio Shack
  2. using a 10mm socket, remove lower panel from under steering wheel OR
  3. locate wire coming from adjustable dash light knob
  4. Verify that 12 volt when lights on
  5. Connect that to the + side of buzzer
  6. Connect the - side of buzzer run wire to drivers door switch wire.
  7. Replace the panel
  8. Test by tuning lights ON then open drivers door ( buzzer ON)
