USA 91 replaced Water pump& timing belt 3sfe timings off now???

We replaced the water pump/ timing belt on a 91 camry. We got it all back together now the timing is off. ( 4 cylinder engine 3s-fe) I think the cam shaft timing is wrong. We set the crankshaft pulley@ 0 on the lower timing belt cover, cylynder 1 @ TDC. We had the camshaft pulley on the valve timing marks from the factory. We are using a new timing belt. Can we get the timing correct without a timing light? What marks do we use to get the camshaft and cranksaft to line up on the new belt to make timming correct?

Don't know how we missed that important step. We never turned the crankshaft two revolutions...... guess we should have left this job to the trained professionals.........

After the belt is installed, the crank needs to be turned 2 full revolutions (720 degrees, TDC to TDC).

The cams turn at half the speed of the crank. 720 degrees of crank rotation = 360 degrees of cam rotation.

Only then can you check the timing marks (crank and cam).
