What are your plans opinions and ideas on gen 2 styling! So far my favorite exterior is a (post 89) white le with a lexus es250 front end swap OR a 1988 toyota vista bumper and esm 002 rims.
Lets start a good social thread! (besides the picture thread)
Vista bumper > ES front end. Gen2s have a subtle / vague sportiness in their styling, with the Vista bumper you enhance it, with the ES front end you kill it, it just looks too formal. Don't get me wrong, I think the ES250 is a beautiful car, but it's a different car with different styling cues.
'91 taillights, '88 V6 lower lip, 17" König Lighnings, and plan to drop it 2"-2.5" on a set of Tein springs, flare the fenders and have a custom scoop made for the 3sgte that resembles the heat shield off of a second gen 3SGTE.
I did paint the panel but of course when I removed my painters tape and it peeled it back off so I'm going to strip it back down and start over, so much for putting primer on it.
Do they have the same bolt points? do you think that youll have to do much with the front end? also havent seen any pics of your car recently any updates?
No real updates. Engine started knocking on my last day of classes so it's been parked. The ES nose bolts on. It needs some body work to really look good (not done on mine yet) so I'm pretty sure you could interface the Vista bumper without too much fuss. The ES bumper used the same braces as my stock Camry bumper, and I know a couple guys on here are running the Vista one. They could tell you if any modification was necessary.
I just find it weird that the ads didn't show the cars with cool options like alloy wheels, trunk spoiler, mudflaps, 2-tone paint... The cars shown are somewhat plain.
I like the 1987 picture a lot. The car has a happy optimistic 'face' but still looks like a serious vehicle, unlike nowadays when 'cute' cars only look like egg-shaped baby toys and every other model is made to look like an angry facelifted fish.
They has that style tail light for a few of the years. The headlights also had two different styles there. Also notice the rear bumper is lower-profile (light the front) and there is a lower valence on the rear.
