^Talk about gravedigging. You do know that this came and went, and that there are examples of it out there, right? The homie Yukio (CamryPunk) was one of the fortunate few.

Well, there is an alternative. It's not a 3sgte swap, not a 5sfe/3sgte home made hybrid system either. It's a 50 state legal universal turbo kit. I think it's about the best system I've ever seen. Combine this system with some engine work, and there could be the potential for some decent numbers. I4, and V6 alike.

Check it out...
http://www.ststurbo.com/universal_system

I first saw it on the show Gears on the Speed channel, and the episode of Trucks that they have a clip of on the STS website. I'm even thinking that the CT-26 turbo I have(from my attempt to cobble together a kit for my I4) could be adapted to the system. Hmmm...the possibilities...

The universal turbo is definitely a cool concept... but the fact that a used ripp mods carger would probably be 100 times easier and innexpensive is very very tempting.

My performance goals are just about done after I do my suspension though, I MIGHT try to find a 5spd S54, and swap it in, but that's a big might.

No one heard anyone with the RM SDS though??

Dammit guys this is pissing me off, you want 5s-fe performance? Build your own damn turbo kit it ISNT that hard.

You will be disappointed with the power compared to the money you spend, stop posting useless "I wish I had this" threads, it's a damn Camry for Christ's sake.

No you wouldn't. The Universal kit replaces the muffler. The turbo sit where the muffler would be, and shoots the air back toward the engine. Every part of the exhaust remains the same except for the muffler. The manifold, converters, O2 sensors all stay right where they are. the intake system remains the same too, except for the piping coming from the turbo. That's what makes the system 50 state legal.

Here are a some vids of the system...

This vid explains perfectly how the system works...

I've personally seen 3 vehicles sporting STS setups. A C6, a Magnum Hemi, and a Charger Hemi.
Their biggest complaints? Instead of waiting .5-1 second for boost to come, sometimes it can take as long as 1-2 seconds to get benefit. I'd pin that on how far the exhaust as to travel then how far the intake charge has to travel. HOWEVER- all 3 said the power gained was fantastic, you just need to be extra-patient lower down.
I've also noticed a longer Blow-off period with them. Evacuating 20 feet of pressurized pipe versus 10 feet would likely be the cause there.

Not to mention the sleeper effect of it. Keep the turbo tucked up, someone pops your hood and thinks... Wait, it looks stock other than the piping run down into the bumper... Must be a CAI. Then you spank them hard and fast. lol

It is a "Camry for Christ's sake" but anyone can say they wish they had something. Sometimes its a hollow statement, but sometimes thats the start of a project. Don't diss on someone for wishing.

And yes, it is old news. But still cool news.

Been here too long and seen too many "projects" start up, I'm sure I am not the only person tired of seeing these threads.
