I dunno anymore... its been so long since I really got under the hood of the Camry. I've been building high horse power small blocks for the past year or so. Just having power brakes is a joy.

You can't lock up the brakes w/ ABS. Its like when you were told in drivers edu to pump your breaks if you start to slide. The ABS computer pumps/pulses your breaks automaticly. I personally don't care for it. You're not gonna lock up unless you really jam on the brakes and by that point its usually to late anyway.
Bad weather is the one excption, If you slide on ice or hydroplane pumping to gain traction is usually the last thing you're thinking about when you're tryiing to counter steer and avoid a guard rail or the car in front of you... or both!

yup, exactly, but still, it can be handy, I slide very quickly, now I'm about to change my tyres soon, so that should help (brakes have been replaced recently)

what is safer? w/ or w/o abs.. i know its safer for the winter time.. or raining weather.. but what about w/o abs.. is it still safe... i mean how does it feel w/ abs and how does it feel w/o it .. i don't think i have abs... since the abs light doesn't show.. and everytime i have to pump the brake a lot if i have to brake fast on the highway.. is that normal?... if thats not normal what can i do..

My opinion is it depends on what you're used to. If you're apt to just punching the brakes as hard as you can, ABS is likely gonna be safer. If you're used to carefully braking, feathering the pedal to avoid skidding/sliding, etc.... ABS isn't going to have any added benefit, I'd assume.

My 2001 Camry is the first car I've owned with ABS, and it took a little getting used to... I've driven cars with ABS before, but not daily. Kinda a weird thing when you're going over a puddle at a high speed with the brake slightly depressed and the ABS kicks in immediately

Also sticky tires, good brakes and stiff suspension will greatly lower the chance of activating ABS by the computer.

And of course if you feather your brakes and do early braking it'll decrease the chance of activating it too.
