gen3.5 - in depth transaxle question - A541E

ok guys, i own a 95 v6 le with the a541e transaxle. i beleive i am having issues with my lock up torque converter solonoid. what i want to do deactivate the lock-up part of the of the transmission because this will help me determine if its the problem.

the transmission only clunks, mule-kicks(whatever you want to call it) when the torque converter is experiencing lock-up.(3rd/4th gear)

now here is where it gets complicated. if i look in the haynes manual it labels one of the externally accessible solonoids as the lock-up solonoid, however, the camry factory repair manual only labels them as direct clutch, SL, and SLN solonoids.(This is on page AX2-9) i have tried disconnecting the one solonoid that seems to be the lock-up one but the trans is still locking the torque converter so i must be disconnecting the wrong one.

my main question is can you deactivate the lock-up part of the transmission, externally or by dropping the pan. also if i determine that it is one of my solonoid that are acting up where can i buy this part? i have checked ebay and emailed transmission shops but i can only find the part in rebuild kits, not sold separatly.

btw... please dont suggest that i change the fluid or other obvious stuff like adjusting the kick-down cable. these have all been tried and the fluid is <10000 miles old and at the proper level.

thanks
