How to change 95 camry transfer case oil?

Hello,

Is the transfer case oil the same as the differential oil for the 95 camry ( i think 95 camry belongs to the 5s-fe third generation camry)? According to autozone diagrams, there is a transfer case oil level dipstick towards the back engine near the center of the firewall which your suppose to fill it with 75w-90 gear oil. but I looked all over and can't find it in mines. Is this "transfer case oil" synonomous with "gear box oil". Your expertise will be greatly appreciated.

If you have a automatic transmission, the differential and transmission is drained and filled seperately. Both take Dexron II/III ATF. There is no dipstick for the differential, only the transmission.

^ Transmission (auto) is filled through the dipstick.

Exactly what 88LE said and provided pictures of. I can not ever remeber there being a dipstick for the diff fluid ona Gen3. you normally use a pump of some sort to put the fluid inthe diff. filler hole. fill it til you see some seeping out like you would any other type of diff.case.

Hi,

Sorry , it is an automatic transmission. I have drained and refilled both the automatic transmission and differential oil with dexcron 3. I wonder why the differential just require regular transmission oil and not the 75w-90 gear oil like other cars do. Maybe just another reason toyotas are so easy to maintain. So based on your response, what is meant by the "transfer case oil" or "gearbox oil" in other cars is no different from the "differential oil" in the 95 camries. These terms actually mean the same thing but just termed differently.
