Gen4 Installing New Struts Tonight

My friend's 99 4-cylinder sedan (Gen4?) - he ordered 4 struts online and we are going to put them in tonight. We plan on pulling the complete strut assemblies and bringing them to Pep Boys where they can compress the spring and put it onto the new strut, then we will reinstall the struts and take it somewhere to have it aligned.

Questions, are any special tools or procedures needed? I've done struts on other FWD Japanese cars - is it the same procedure?

Also, are there any common-wear items in the steering or suspension that should be checked and/or replaced at this time?

Get new strut bearings.

Also, get new strut mounts with the strut bearings.

You will need a torque wrench. Most important is that you torque the Strut-to-suspension support (damper shaft) nut to 36ft. lbs will the car is cold.

you really dont NEED anything... just do it.

spring compressors are a must though.
